I'll have to say hip hop and Michael Jordan. Hip hop is at it's hype and making it's impact now. Everywhere you go, look, and see hip hop has influenced something and it's still growing........ Back in the 80's %26amp; 90's Michael Jordan was at his biggest hype and making his impact(and stiil making an impact today). In that era everywhere you looked you seen MJ(music videos, commercials, endorsements, movies, across seas, clothing, shoes, %26amp; etc.). MJ wasn't just known in the U.S.A.(the NBA %26amp; basketball is known world wide). When he played on The Dream Team in the OLYMPICS, they were selling out stadiums(gyms) and the other teams were excited to play against them. When MJ was playing he had non sports fans tuning in to watch him play. He had every kid who wanted to play basketball for they school fighting over the # 23. It's so bad that the NBA stars of today is wearing 23 because of MJ(Lebron James). Every basketball quart you went to play on every kid was fighting to see who's MJ.

After Jan 1st, 1964 in the US, nothing could be said or done without some type of influence from the Beatles. They were the songs people listened too, they were in the papers everyone read, they were the styles that everyone copied, they were the boys that everyone wanted to be like, and they had the girls that every other girl wished it was them. They were the news that everyone heard about, and they made the news that everyone wanted to hear. When, in the fall of '66 as the Beatles went on a 4 month holiday, the entire WORLD held their collective breathe as everyone thought The Beatles were breaking up.
It's hard to comprhend in this modern world of computers and mass media, but when the Beatles landed in New York that first time, it was as if a nuclear explosion had gone off, and the fallout didn't end until December of 70, when it became official that the Beatles had broken up.
The hype began in late 63, and by early 64, they had well surpassed any hype that had been noted. After that, there was no more hype, just amazement at 4 dudes from Liverpool who essentially, changed the world as we knew it.
Hip Hop should not be included because all of the others are people and that is a large movement/musical style. You should use Run DMC or Dr. Dre or someone else who was a groundbreaker as your last option.
Other than that it has got to be the Beatles, Elvis and Muhammed Ali. Michael Jordan was great at basketball and Michael Jackson a star but not revolutionary like the other three.
